About Me.
At Luke's first hunter show.

"Luke": American Shire Horse, 14y.o., Gelding, 18.1h, 1750lbs.

I attended veterinary school at the University of California, Davis.
After graduation I accepted a job as a veterinarian in private practice that dealt with primarily racehorses.  I worked there for about a year before I started my acupuncture training at Colorado State  University.

After six months of practicing acupuncture I decided to branch off on my own and focus solely on acupuncture, with chiropractic training to commence the following spring.

I completed the Options for Animals chiropractic course held in Kansas in 2006, and have been practicing manipulative/spinal therapies in conjunction with acupuncture ever since.

I grew up in Orange County, CA and have been involved with horses since birth.  From the age of 11, I knew that I wanted to be an equine veterinarian and started to prepare myself for a career in veterinary medicine.
I completed my undergraduate studies at California State University, Fresno, where I competed on the Equestrian team in both English and Western.  It was during this equine experience that I was first introduced to the idea of acupuncture by a teammate of mine.
My primary emphases while attending veterinary school were equine and poultry medicines, graduating in 2004.  During my third year at Davis I rekindled my interest in acupuncture and chiropractic medicines for horses when I was witness to a demonstration by a veterinarian in one of my equine lameness courses.  It was at this time that I decided that my ultimate goal was to become trained in these disciplines and make them the focus of my practice.

The work I do now with horses is more rewarding than I ever could have imagined.  I am amazed everyday at the power of these disciplines and feel as if I make much more of a difference practicing acupuncture and manipulative therapies than I ever did practicing traditional veterinary medicine.
